Monday: Invention Stage (respond the prompt "What impact has technology had on communication?")

Homework: 1. Critiquing the rubric....first look at the writing standards for 9/10 grade...these are the expectations. Now read the updated rubric....write questions, make note of where clarification is needed, and see if you can clearly know how to rate your own work....

2. Writing practice: Reflect on the days without power…choose a moment of frustration or a moment of freedom and tell that story…bring a typed copy to school tomorrow (if power is still out can handwrite)

Tuesday: Planning Stage "Universal themes"

Homework: write one page single-spaced without care or concern for grammar or organization on this question: "Why would society have a shift from focus on community to focus on the individual? What might some catalysts be? What effects would this shift have on society? Are these positive and/or negative? Why?"

****Current event will be due next week. Work ahead if you'd like****

Wednesday/Thursday: Drafting stage (looking at three writing samples and organizing a formal essay, reviewing the rubric and expectations of sophomore writers compared to college freshman.

Homework: Look at your three writing samples (sorry I have a few of yours) and make a list of the concepts that are present (use the blue papers as sources of ideas or add your own). Look over the papers and find snippets that you are really happy with. That may be an image, an anecdote, or a few sentences where you are proud of your diction. Tomorrow in class you will be organizing an essay based on the expansion of the concepts of technology and communication. You will craft an argument based on our work this week. So, for tomorrow, bring your writing samples and rubrics and be prepared to put together a working thesis and outline for an essay.

Friday: The outlining and thesis statements

Homework: Happy Friday. We begin Oedipus on block day. Have a copy.
